Not Edited Yet #3 — Roadside Findings

I often find the most unexpected things on the roadside in remote locations — what really surprises me though is how desirable some of them are!

Not Edited Yet #2 — Ai se eu te pego!

Being on the road seems to make me a lot more open to be surprised by all that is already out there 😀

This is Borys, asking his cousin if i could pitch my tent in front of his shop. He first drew my attention by shouting, ‘Brazil!,’ from a bus stop as i was passing by — this staggered me, as it typically sounds a bit more like ‘Brazilia’ in the Slavic world — this is also about what we call our capital back home, and had been a maddening source of confusion for the past few weeks.

He was indeed talking to me in Portuguese, which he picked up during his 11 years working in Portugal — he eventually invited me to stay at his place for the night, and it was quite refreshing to be able to speak my mother tongue after such a long time on the road — but not even that had prepared me for the surprise to hear him singing Michel Teló further along the evening!

Not Edited Yet #1 — A Taste of my Packing System

What do i take on my cycle tours, and how do i pack it?

Vladimir, an English teacher at the American Language Center in Chisinau, Moldova, was particularly interested in my packing system, and what i call each of my panniers: the ‘office,’ the ‘kitchen,’ the ‘bedroom’ and the ‘attic’ — this was, of course, not my original idea — many people traveling long-term by bicycle compartmentalize their luggage in one way or another so as to optimize their process.

I plan to further develop on my packing system and go into each of my panniers in a bit more detail at some point in the future, but this short video (kindly shot by Vladimir when i was leaving Chisinau on May 18th, 2017) gives a taste of what that might look like 🙂

Not Edited Yet #0 — Re-Launching the YouTube Series!

I collect a fair amount of video footage along my path. While i focus my current efforts on writing, much of that footage is sadly left largely unprocessed and unedited. Every now and then it seems like the first take is already good enough to be posted as is though, and i figured i’d share those along the way!

I started finding a lot of those “prime uncuts” as went through my photos and videos from my latest cycle touring project (the North Cape Hypothesis) in the context of writing about it, and releasing them on YouTube as the Not Edited Yet series:

I will re-publish all of them here, on my new website, while new ones will be released as i go over footage from other projects!
